Islam in Africa

North Africa was once a major stronghold for early Christianity; but, beginning in the 8th century, all of north Africa eventually fell to the influence Islam.  The same thing happened in Palestine and Asia Minor (Turkey) where Christianity was once very strong (remember the work of the Apostle Paul?).  Within the last century, Islam has begun moving southward in Africa and is clearly intent on taken the rest of Africa for Islam.
