Daybreak Outreach Initiatives

Since our mission is to advance the kingdom of God in Central Africa, Daybreak is very active in mission efforts that seek to make disciples.  Whereas the goal of the Daybreak Bible College (DBC) is to train spiritual leaders how to make disciples, the Center for African Missions (CAM) is dedicated to working directly with former students and already existing church leaders in an effort to encourage and facilitate their disciple-making efforts.

We believe that the mission of God is to make disciples -- not necessarily to plant churches.  Nowhere in the Bible are we told to go plant churches; the Great Commission is to make disciples (Mt 28-18-20).  Church-plantings occur as a by-product of making disciples.  It is quite easy to baptize lots of people and plant churches; but experience has taught us that baptizing and planting churches does not mean that one has made disciples.  In fact, our experience has led us to believe that many mission efforts have resulted in producing lots of church members who know little or nothing about what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus.

It is for this reason that Daybreak (CAM) is dedicated to promoting such efforts that encourage the disciple-making approach (efforts that facilitate spiritual formation and obedience to the teachings of Jesus).  Hence, our students are trained to focus on making disciples.  This approach (focus) can also be taught done through several activities that include congregational leadership training, church seminars and workshops, camp meetings (popular in Zambia), etc.  Since making a disciple is not something that can be done in a one-week mission campaign, our mission campaigns (with students) are more about engaging in evangelistic efforts with local leaders so as to teach them a disciple-making approach.  Our mission campaigns are more about contributing to the efforts (process) of disciple-making being carried out by local leaders.
