Women & Children Ministries

Many of our churches in Zambia have developed very few ministries for women and children. It is rare that our churches conduct any type of Sunday School program for teaching Bible to the children of the congregation. In fact, most churches are poorly organized and do little more than meet for worship on Sunday mornings.

Yet, there is so much that could be done to minister to women and children in Zambia and to organize them into ministries to care for the needs of others. Our churches need to be instructed in how to organize such programs for purposes of edification and ministry (e.g. Women’s prayer group, Children’s Bible Program, Women’s ministries to care for widows and orphans of the community, etc).

It is for this reason that our Bible College initiated a women’s program in 2007 designed to develop women’s leaders and to teach them how to organize and conduct programs for women and children in the local churches of Zambia. Six women attended this program the first year and in 2008 the number increased to thirteen women. As the Bible College (DBC) has now shifted to a three-year program whose students are primarily married, our women's program has expanded to include the training of student wives in ministry. DBC is now dedicated to training couples in ministry (since wives are critical to the ministry of our graduates).

Daybreak Women's Ministry.

In addition to the women's training program at DBC, the women of Daybreak have organized themselves into a women's ministry dedicated to ministering to widows and orphans. The Women's Ministry is made up of faculty, staff and student wives, along with women from the local church. With past donations (money and fabric) that have been made to this group, the women's ministry has bought sewing machines and are now sewing clothes for widows and orphans.
